Steven Marks is a 1977 Revere High School graduate and a 1981 graduate
from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Today he is one of Akron's most successful entrepreneurs. Steve and his
business partner started out with a small shop in downtown Akron called Main
Street Muffins. From there, they built an international muffin-dough
manufacturing business. In 1996, they sold their business to a partnership
of two venture capital firms. They are now co-CEOs of Main Street Gourmet,
which specializes in baking products. Steve and his wife Jeannine have
always been very active in the community and fundraising events.
They sponsored the first annual "Road Runner Akron
Marathon" that debuted October 11, 2003. The event drew over 5000
runners and awarded over $75,000 in prize money. All proceeds benefited local and national
charities. Steve is optimistic that this event will bring Akron the
recognition that the NEC World Series of Golf and All-American Soap Box
Derby does. Steve's current venture explains why he has won numerous
business awards throughout his career including, "Entrepreneur of the Year"
(1993), "Best of America Small Business Award" (1994), and
"America's Most
Successful 25 Small Manufacturers Award" (1995) just to name a few.
