Lynda Durrant Lemmon has a B.A. in English, a M.A.T. (teaching) in English, and a M.A. from the Writing Program, all from the University of Washington in Seattle.

Her first novel, Echohawk, was on the New York Public Library Books for the Teenage and it won the International Reader's Association Young Adult Choice Award.

Her second, The Beaded Moccasins, the Story of Mary Campbell, won the 1999 Ohio Library Association Book Award in the Juvenile category.  It was on the American Library Association's Notable Children's Trade Books in the Field of Social Studies, the New York Public Library's Books for the Teenage, and it won the Parent's Guide to Children's Media Award.

Her third, Turtle Clan Journey, a sequel to Echohawk, was a Junior Literary Guild Selection.

Her fourth novel, Betsy Zane, the Rose of Fort Henry, was on the New York Public Library's Books for the Teenage.  It won the 2001 Ohio Library Association Book Award in the Juvenile category.  It was also on the American Library Association's Quick Picks of 2001.

Lynda is working on a novel about Johnny Appleseed, which will be published in the spring of 2003.

Lynda and her husband, Wesley Lemmon, (RHS '75) still live in Bath.  They have a son, Jonathan, and horses, dogs, and cats.
