Dr. Donald Murphy graduated from Revere High School in 1965. He did his undergraduate and professional studies at The Ohio State University where he graduated from the College of Optometry in 1972. Don has been a practicing optometrist in Fairlawn since his graduation. His outstanding commitment to his patients and his profession has earned him many professional honors and distinctions, including two Ohio Optometric Association Outstanding Service Awards and the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Ohio State University College of Optometry. He served as president of the Ohio Optometric Association in 1998. In 2001, he was the recipient of the Ohio Optometric Association’s highest honor “The Ohio Optometrist of the Year Award” presented to only one optometrist in the state annually.
Dr. Murphy’s leadership skills, outside of his profession, were instrumental in the organization of the Revere Alumni Association in 1998. He served as president for the association for four years from 1998 to 2002. Thanks to Don’s on-going hard work and commitment, the alumni association continues to grow in membership and in assistance to the school district. Don has also been very active in the youth community, serving as a coach for a variety of baseball and basketball teams and as Vice President of the Revere Recreation Association.
Don and his wife Carla, who is also a 1974 Revere grad, reside in Bath. Their two children, Heather and John, are Revere High School alumni as well.
