You know that to most school-aged kids, all teachers seem OLD!
I also learned that she was a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace, taught for 33 years, mostly at Richfield and Revere before retiring at age 54. She served on the Nordonia school board; received an Ohio Education Association Doers Award--as well as being involved in other local and state educational activities.
Over the 25 years following my high school graduation, I would occasionally see the Ocaseks at various events. Several months after her tragic death as a result of a car accident twenty years ago, her husband, State Senator Oliver Ocasek, said to me with tears on his face, “She’s gone. My Ginny’s gone. “GINNY???” never would I have pictured this very proper, professional, much-respected teacher as a “Ginny.” But that showed me another dimension to her life.
An outstanding, caring, dedicated Revere teacher—it’s an honor for me to remember and tell you about this wonderful woman who showed and led the way for so many Revere students.
